Differences between organic and inorganic antifreeze

There are mainly three types of antifreeze/coolant liquids that are sold or marketed:

  • Inorganic or also called Inorganic Acid Technology.
  • Organic or also called organic acid technology. OAT technology
  • Hybrids. HOAT Technology

The current trend among leading automobile manufacturers is to market organic antifreezes , whose formulations incorporate organic additives that protect the engine and components, both aluminum and alloys and new materials, from corrosion.

Thus, we are increasingly finding more vehicles on the market that require organic coolant technology, which allows for change intervals of around 60,000 km/year, compared to inorganic fluids, which do not exceed 30,000 km/year.

The formulation of these modern refrigerants differs from that of traditional refrigerants and they should not be mixed together.
