Maflow Spain Automotive S.L., a company based in Guarnizo (Cantabria) and specialized in the manufacture of automotive components, has been the beneficiary of a grant awarded by SODERCAN within the R&D Technicians 2024 program, aimed at promoting the recruitment of qualified technical personnel in research and development activities.

The grant, which amounts to €17,739.71, represents 45% of the total cost of the subsidized project and is intended to hire an R&D technician to strengthen the company's innovation area. The project will be carried out over twelve months, from March 2024 to March 2025, and has not received or applied for any other public aid for the same purpose.

Thanks to this incorporation, Maflow will be able to advance in the development of new, more sustainable and efficient chemical formulations, aligned with European regulatory requirements and market demands. Among the main technical objectives of the project is the creation of products free of 2-ethylhexanoate (2EHA), a component that Maflow seeks to eliminate due to its environmental impact, as well as the improvement of existing formulations, such as MONSUN windshield wipers, optimizing their performance and reducing production costs.

In addition, the project contemplates a significant transformation in the internal processes of the Guarnizo plant, which will enable the company to reduce its dependence on external suppliers, improve the traceability of its products and increase its capacity to respond to the needs of its customers.

The contracted technician will also participate in the creation and validation of specific test protocols, in collaboration with the purchasing, production and sales departments, thus ensuring a transversal integration of technical knowledge throughout the organization.

This drive for innovation is part of the sustainable growth strategy of Maflow, which already has a solid track record in the field of R&D, with more than 100,000 hours of accumulated experience and an investment of more than 9.5 million euros in technological development projects between 2010 and 2021. The company is part of the international Boryszew Group and supplies major automotive manufacturers such as Audi, Volkswagen, Renault, BMW and Stellantis.

In addition to its commitment to innovation, Maflow maintains a firm commitment to equal opportunities, integrating in its Equality Plan specific measures to ensure equity in the selection, promotion and remuneration of personnel, as well as active policies of conciliation, co-responsibility and prevention of harassment.

With this new aid, Maflow not only strengthens its technical and competitive capacity, but also contributes to the economic and technological development of Cantabria, generating qualified employment and betting on a more sustainable, efficient and inclusive industrial model.

From our plant in Guarnizo, Cantabria, we will ship the air conditioning piping assemblies for this emblematic model, reaffirming our commitment to quality, efficiency and technological innovation.

At Maflow Spain, we enthusiastically introduce Borygo Heavy Duty and Borygo Power Heavy Duty, two advanced antifreeze-coolants created to provide optimum protection for truck engines, heavy-duty machinery and agricultural equipment operating in extreme working conditions.

Borygo Heavy Duty uses OAT technology and is formulated for modern engines and aluminum systems and is ideal for agricultural and construction machinery. Its organic formula guarantees corrosion protection for up to one million kilometers or five years, with exceptional thermal performance.

On the other hand, Borygo Power Heavy Duty uses N-OAT, ideal for cast iron engines in heavy-duty agricultural machinery and mining equipment. It complies with ASTM D6210, requires no supplementary additives, and offers thermal protection up to 148°C.

Both products are designed to maximize performance and reduce operating costs, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and innovation in the industry.

With great pleasure, we participated in the MATRIZ High Tech Incubator, a key space to drive the green and digital transition, where we shared our vision on open innovation as a strategic pillar.

On behalf of Maflow Spain Automotive, our innovation director, Teresa Iglesias, participated in an enriching round table entitled "Open innovation as a pillar of the innovation strategies of leading companies: experiences and results", together with references such as Juan Carlos López Rodríguez, Manager of CAF Digital & Design Solutions, Asier Irure Zarauz, Corporate Head of Open Innovation at CAF, and Mikel Llorambarrí, CEO of Birziplastik.

This forum highlighted how collaboration between companies can overcome challenges, drive sustainability and generate innovation with real impact. It also highlighted the importance of integrating emerging technologies to transform the industry, strengthening a dynamic business ecosystem.

We would like to thank the Diputación de Jaén, Geolit and all the organizers of this event, which brings together leading companies and entrepreneurs in the construction of a more sustainable and technological future.

At Maflow we continue to bet on innovation as a tool to grow and contribute to a more efficient and connected automotive industry. What do you think about the importance of collaboration between companies to lead innovation?
