Maflow Spain , manufacturer of air conditioning systems and fluids for Borygo vehicles, collaborates with Volkswagen Navarra on many of its models.

Volkswagen Navarra has won the Industrial Excellence Award for Best European Factory of 2014, an accolade sponsored by three of the continent's leading business schools: Spain's IESE, France's Insead, and Germany's WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management, along with academic partners such as Cambridge Judge Business School, HEC Paris, Koç University, Rotterdam School of Management, and TU Eindhoven.

The award was recently presented at the Wirtschafts Woche conference in Weimar for "Volkswagen Navarra's ability to operate in a relatively turbulent environment by focusing on exports, quickly integrating innovative improvements into the production process, and reaching agreements with unions to implement and pursue strategic objectives."

The center defeated finalist factories from MDC Power, ABB Traction, and L'Oréal. Under the award's rules, each business school selects from among the participating companies in their respective countries those industrial companies that contribute to their country's economic competitiveness. A jury composed of professors from the schools visits the finalists and sends a report to the companies, diagnosing their strengths and potential risks, as well as areas for improvement. Finally, the national winners compete for the European award.

According to Eduard Calvo, IESE professor and academic director of the award in Spain, "In the automotive sector, where competitive pressure is very strong, it is common to centralize strategic decisions and standardize procedures. The Pamplona plant stands out for its ability to introduce innovations such as the Polo WRC's 'sandwich hood', apply groundbreaking operational methodologies such as 'kanbanyokes' or the use of 'hawkeye' in the industrial field, and, furthermore, for making them available to the brand globally."

For his part, Emilio Sáenz, president of Volkswagen Navarra, stated that "this European award fills each and every one of us at our factory with pride and motivates us to continue working, even harder, to continue generating wealth. The award reinforces our commitment to quality and the constant pursuit of excellence."
